Confirmation 2024

All eighth graders and any older students who have not yet been confirmed are invited to participate in this year's confirmation process! Confirmation is an important step on every young person's faith journey. Through confirmation each student will attend several classes in pursuit of taking ownership of their faith. Each confirmand will be paired with a mentor to shepherd them through the process.

All confirmands are expected to attend all classes and activities.  Classes will meet from 6-7 at Hayes Barton. In addition to attending the class, confirmands will be expected to complete a project alongside of their mentor and participate as an acolyte or crucifer during the confirmation period.
If a student must miss something, they must let Chris know and will be given a makeup assignment. The Project Presentation, Confirmation Retreat and Confirmation Sunday are required events that are very very difficult to make up. Please plan ahead for these dates.

Confirmation Mentors

Here’s an abbreviated version of what is expected from our mentors. First, you will need to attend our Orientation Class on Wednesday night, January 17th at 6:00pm in the Sanctuary. I will conduct a short session with all mentors, parents, and confirmands to go over materials that you will use in the sessions you have with your Confirmand. Secondly, you will need to schedule meetings with your Confirmand to cover your booklet and work on a project together. The project is a newer addition to the Confirmation curriculum this year. The booklet has been edited from past years to have one “session” and then questions and prompts to help with the project. Overall, the most important thing we want you to do is build a relationship with your Confirmand.
